Hi there, I’m Kyla

I was raised in a very entrepreneurial family, which often meant listening to the grown ups talk about money around the dinner table and even getting stock market analysis software for my 10th birthday (yea, I've always been a nerd). It also meant that I was able to absorb a ton of useful information and have never understood the idea that talking about money is "taboo".

Fast forward a few years, and I ended up at business school studying finance. Ever since, friends have been asking me for financial advice and I've learned that I find it oddly fun to help people fix some pretty simple money issues. After graduating, I went on to work in corporate finance at a financial services firm for a handful of years.

Now, I manage the money for several small businesses while also chasing around my one year old (his favorite toy is a calculator... I wonder where he gets that from).

I have always been bothered at the lack of financial literacy education in our schools, and honestly, in our homes. So many young people go out into the world with no real idea of what to do with their money. They end up with levels of stress and financial hardship that could be pretty easily avoided, if someone would just help them understand.

Well, guess what? That person is you! My goal with Rise the Tide is to equip you with all of the resources you need to feel comfortable and have fun teaching your kids about money.
